“The upcoming parliamentary session set to elect a new head of state will be held due to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s initiative,” Tripoli MP Mohammad Kabbara said following the bloc’s weekly meeting.
The bloc confirmed its support for Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun’s presidential bid, expressing hope that his election would work in Lebanon's national interest.
Last Thursday, Hariri, endorsed his decade-long rival Aoun for the presidency, finally clearing the general’s path to the country’s top Christian seat.
