Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ali Akbar Velayati said that Aoun's election as Lebanon's president represents victory for Islamic Resistance and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
In a statement to Tasnim News Agency, Velayati said that Aoun is “a brave man and a fighter and deserves this responsibility.”
In turn, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said that “the Islamic Republic congratulates the Lebanese people and all the political factions in the country,” adding that this step is very important for the consolidation of the democracy and guaranteeing Lebanon’s stability.
“This election represents a symbol for the coexistence,” he said.
