Hakim says Kataeb will serve as opposition when necessary

Resigned Economy Minister Alain Hakim said on Tuesday that the Kataeb party will be in the ranks of the opposition when necessary, adding that it will extend its hand to the new president Michel Aoun when it is in the interest of Lebanon.

Hakim’s remarks were made via his Twitter account whereby he voiced hopes that the new era “will meet the standards of the nation.”

Hakim resigned from Cabinet last June, after his party criticized the government’s performance regarding a number of issues, including the waste management crisis.
