REPORT: Future bloc nominates Hariri for premiership

Future bloc voiced hopes on Tuesday that that the election of MP Michel Aoun would form a solid start for reactivation of the state’s institutions.

 

The bloc’s comments were made following its weekly meeting whereby it praised the positive content of the oath of office, mainly in terms of underlining commitment to the constitution and the laws and adherence to the implementation of the Document of National Pact without selectivity.”


As for the formation of the next government, the bloc formally nominated Hariri for the premiership post and said it will stand by him in “his mission as the leader of the next government.”

 

Yesterday, Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun was elected president on Monday after around two and a half years of presidential vacuum.

 

His presidential chances had been mainly increased by a key endorsement from Hariri in mid-October.

 

Aoun's nomination had also received support from Hezbollah and the Lebanese Forces.

 

Binding parliamentary consultations for choosing a new Prime Minister will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
