REPORT: Kuwait celebrates opening of new opera house
Kuwait celebrated the opening of a new cultural center in the capital, complete with a 2000-seat opera house.

The opening ceremony for the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre, attended by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, featured performances, dancing and music.

The deputy minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, Sheikh Ali Jarrah al Sabah, said in a pre-recorded message broadcast on a big screen that it was a “momentous day in the history of Kuwait”.

Local media reported that the center, which spans 214,000 square meters and hosts several facilities within its four buildings, including a cinema and a library for historic documents, cost $750 million to construct.
