Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman arrived in Rafik
Hariri International Airport on the head of a delegation at around 8 pm Tuesday
in a flight coming from London.
Feltman was preceded by U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman who
came from Riyad to join the delegation.
Upon his arrival, Feltman headed to MP Walid Jumblatt’s
residence in Clemenceau where he was also preceded by Lieberman.
Sources told LBCI that he an extended meeting will be
held in Clemenceau between Feltman, the accompanying delegation, Jumblatt,
ministers Ghazi Aridi, Wael Abu Faour, Alaa el Din Terro and Taymour Jumblatt. The
meeting will be followed by a business dinner.
The sources stressed that Feltman will make no statement
this evening following his meeting with Jumblatt. Rather, the U.S. embassy will
issue a statement on Wednesday at the end of his visit to Lebanon.
