Seven National Social Security Fund (NSSF) employees have been arrested on Monday over forgery and embezzlement.
Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim pressed charges against the seven employees and referred their cases to the first investigative judge in Beirut.
In turn, the administration of the NSSF explained that the ongoing investigations and prosecutions resulted from the emergence of a forged receipt, according to which fund’s administration filed a lawsuit before the financial prosecution on the first of August, 2016.
The administration added that the defendants are five employees, one retired employee and one subscriber to the fund.
The administration said that coordination is underway with the financial inspection directorate concerning the internal investigations.
