The World Food Program (WFP) expressed concerns over food security in Mosul, as the US-backed offensive to crush Islamic State in its last major city stronghold in Iraq entered a second month.
The UN agency released new video filmed in the areas surrounding Mosul, saying it was concerned for the people trapped inside Mosul and in some of the newly retaken areas surrounding the city.
In a statement, WFP said it was working with partners to monitor frontlines and working to reach families in need as soon as there was safe access.
The militants have been steadily retreating from areas around Mosul into the city since the battle started on Oct. 17, with air and ground support from a US-led coalition.
