REPORT: After a two-year vacuum, Lebanon holds Independence Day parade

Lebanon celebrated 73rd Independence Day on Tuesday on Shafiq al-Wazzan Avenue in Beirut, in the presence of President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and caretaker Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

President Aoun placed a wreath on the martyrs’ memorial, before kicking off the military parade.

Songs for late Lebanese singers Sabah and Melhem Barakat were also displayed as a tribute for their memory.

Lebanese University Choir, led by Dr. Laure Abbas, performed a bundle of national songs, for the first time during Independence Day parades.

It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese Armed Forces military parade has been absent for two years due to the presidential vacuum then.
