Hezbollah hails “LAF heroic operation” in Arsal

Hezbollah hailed on Friday the Lebanese Armed Forces’ operation against Islamic State militants in the border town of Arsal, noting that it “highlighted its essential role in defending the border and from terrorists.”

 

“This heroic operation is a true reflection of the Lebanese armed forces' commitment to dealing preventive blows to the terrorists, where needed, to avert them from plotting terrorist operations against the Lebanese people,” the party said in a statement.

 

It also noted that the Lebanese “cannot forget the Lebanese troops who are still enduring captivity at the hands of these terrorist groups,” voicing hopes that the operation “will help in bringing them back safe and sound to their families.”

 

Earlier on Friday, the army said it arrested a prominent local IS commander and 10 other militants during a raid near the border with Syria.
