Nasrallah says no party is trying to block formation of new Cabinet
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Friday night a televised speech in which he tackled the latest developments.

In his speech Nasrallah dubbed the relation with President Aoun and the Free Patriotic Movement as “excellent,” adding that the party is not worried by the FPM-Lebanese Forces relation.

He also said that Hezbollah is keen to see the relation between FPM and the Marada Movement return back to normal.

“I stress that no political party in Lebanon is trying to block the formation of the new government,” Nasrallah said concerning the formation of the new cabinet.

"President Aoun is more than a guaranteeing third in any government," he added.

On another note, Nasrallah backed the adoption of a proportional system for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He concluded by saying that "the entire region entered a new phase," calling on the Lebanese politic forces to cooperate in order to build a state.

Deep disagreements between rival parties over the country's electoral law are believed to be hindering the formation of the new government.
Parliamentary elections are set to take place in May 2017. Parliament has extended its own mandate twice, citing security reasons behind such a step. The last parliamentary elections took place in 2009.
