Turkey refuses to hand over Hashemi

Turkey will not extradite Iraq's fugitive Vice President Tareq Al Hashemi, its deputy prime minister was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

Hashemi is being tried in absentia in Baghdad on charges of running a death squad.

"We will not extradite someone whom we have supported since the very beginning," the Anatolia news agency quoted Bekir Bozdag as saying.
