The head of the Bakery Owners Union Ali Ibrahim told
Al-Akhbar daily that the price of one bundle of bread will reach today 2000 LBP
and its weight will be increased to 1200 g.
According to
Al-Akhbar daily, the Minister of Economy and
Trade Nicolas Nahas stressed that if any bakery manipulates the price and
weight of the bundle of bread, the necessary measures will be taken against it.
He added that during his meeting with the Bakery Owners Union, he confirmed the
latest agreement which lies in keeping the bundle’s weight 900g and its price
1500 LBP.
Nahas pointed that he suggested that the bakery owners should
increase the bundle’s weight to 1800g and its price to 3000LBP, adding that
this does not mean that 900g bundles will not be available at the bakeries.
Nahas also stressed that he reached an agreement with mills
owners to deliver flour to bakeries after reducing its price to 10000LBP,
without subsidies
Sources told
Al-Liwaa newspaper that the losses resulting
from the fire that erupted on Friday morning in Byblos carpet factory in Safra
town are estimated to be between 10 and 12 million dollars. The sources noted
that the environmental damage that has been caused reveal the weakness of the
firefighting apparatuses, personnel and equipment, as well as the negligence in
pursuing the factories’ situations and making sure every factory has insurance against
fires and employees civil liability. The same sources added that only 7 to 8%
of the factories in Lebanon have insurance against fires.
Ministerial sources told
An-Nahar daily that even though Hezbollah
Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ignored the governmental crisis
during his speech, it did not stop the calls and efforts to find a ground for a
governmental agreement which became a serious concern for all the parties. The sources
confirmed that the upcoming cabinet session drew, with its realistic inspirations,
a challenge that the cabinet faces for the first time since its formation.
As-Safir daily reported that the Lebanese army was able to force
Israel to approve on adjusting the course of the separation wall in Kfar Kila,
through UNIFIL-mediated negotiations. Lebanon has rejected the building of a
wall on the 20 centimeters remaining, forcing Israel to put back the barbed
wire on the technical line instead of building a wall.
According to the information, the UN forces are in the
process of discussing with the army a possibility of reducing UN patrols in
South Lebanon and increasing the Lebanese army’s missions.
The discussions also include the army units in the border
regions in the North and Bekaa, where the army’s missions decreased as a result
of the shortage in fuel and munitions.
Sources from
Hezbollah and PSP told
Al-Liwaa daily that the two parties held a meeting
during which they discussed the public spending issue and the necessity of reaching
a settlement, as well as the need to isolate Lebanon from the repercussions of
the Syrian crisis despite the difference in points of view concerning a
solution approach or the interpretation of Syria’s events.
