Students from the National Liberal Party (al-Ahrar) and the Students’ division of the Kataeb party staged Saturday a demonstration in participation with the Communist Party and civil society groups, in order to call for holding the parliamentary elections on time.
The head of the students’ division of the Kataeb party Anthony Labaki called on the parliament to convene as soon as possible to vote on the existent draft law and pass a new electoral law.
“We want a new law before the constitutional deadlines expire and we want the parliamentary elections to be held on time without any delay,” he added.
He also urged the authorities to seek a law that guarantees fair representation, allowing all forces seeking change and reform to be represented.
