A cabinet session convened on Monday at the Baabda Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of President Michel Aoun.

At the beginning of the session, President Aoun stressed that the sessions will remain open until the agreement over a new vote law.

“No vacuum will take place inside the parliament,” he added.

As for Prime Minister Saad Hariri, he stressed the importance of reaching a common ground over a new vote law.

“Everyone must make sacrifices,” he added.

The Cabinet agreed on the formation of a ministerial committee that will devise a new draft law.
Prior to the session, a closed meeting was held between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Also prior to the session, Minister of Public Works Youssef Finianos said that today’s session will put an end for the proportional electoral and will finalize the proportional vote law.”

This as Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan said that his stance is “clear,” reiterating support to the proportional vote law.
