The National Union for the Syndicate of Workers and Employees at the National Social Security Fund staged a sit-in in Riad al-Solh Square to protest against the content of the budget draft law.
The protesters stressed that their movement aims at calling “for abolishing two articles that they say could destroy the state’s insurance and pension fund.”
For his part, head of the General Labor Confederation Beshara al-Asmar urged the president, the speaker and the prime minister to intervene to cancel the two articles from the budget draft law.
Later, a delegation of protesters held a meeting with MP Ibrahim Kanaan who told them to submit a list of their demands to the Finance Committee.
