REPORT: Lebanon hands over five bodies of Syrian nationals to Syria

The General Directorate of General Security, under supervision of the concerned judiciary and in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross organization, handed over to the Syrian authorities at the General Security station in Jdeidet Yabous at the Lebanese-Syrian borders, five bodies belonging to Syrian nationals hailing from Maaloula.

The nationals were identified as: Atef Ragheb Kallouma, Ghassan Michael Shneiss, Shadi Michael Thaalab, Jihad Mtanios Thaalab and Daoud Sarkis Milaneh.

The bodies had be discovered by a General Security patrol carrying out a military mission along the Lebanese Syrian eastern borders during the month of December 2016, within the framework of following up on the issue of the kidnapped soldiers by the Islamic State.

Following the required procedures and medical tests, the bodies were found to be that of Syrian nationals from the village of Maaloula who had been kidnapped during the clashes witnessed by the town, were killed by terrorist organizations and dumped in the caves of Arsal.
