Speaker Nabih Berri denounced the road blocking movements that took place across the Lebanese regions, deeming them “unacceptable behavior.” He also reiterated his stance against quarries “that have tarnished the image of several regions and corrupted the environment.”
During Wednesday’s deputies gathering, Berri stressed that he had set up several formulas for discussion including the one based on the constitution and that stipulates the election of a parliament in accordance with the proportionality law, and the establishment of a Senate.
He explained that the May 15 session aims at avoiding “the fatal vacuum,” hoping that an agreement will be reached over a new electoral law before said date.
Sources had told LBCI that Berri asked Amal Movement to issue a statement expressing his position regarding the road blocking movements.
