Recently published photos showing an Argentine bishop with a woman on a beach in Mexico sparked a major scandal in Argentina’s Catholic Church.     

The clergyman was the president of Caritas Argentina and currently has the same responsibility in Caritas Latin America.   

The bishop resigned his post following the scandal, but said that the woman with him was just "a childhood friend”.       

The photos show the bishop with a woman in a 5-star resort in Mexico 2 years ago. In some shots they are seen in the water holding each other.
