Bassil: Technical mistake in demarcation of border with Cyprus must be corrected
Energy Minister Gibran Bassil stressed on Tuesday that Lebanon has always been among energy-importing countries, adding that its small size and limited natural resources urged it to explore new areas in search of natural resources that are necessary for its sustainability.

During an Energy Conference at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, Bassil noted that Lebanon is determined to exercise all its rights over its exclusive economic zone and to impose respect of the borders demarcated according to the international law. Bassil said that assiduous efforts will be deployed to correct the “flagrant technical mistake” made in dealing with the tripoint while demarcating its borders with Israel “without our knowledge or our consent.”
