Lebanon goes gradually out of control…      

The first thing we learned is that Al-Mokdad’s military wing went out of control. Then, the kidnapping operations have gone beyond the control of Al-Mokdad. It is enough for a group to own a SUV and tinted windows to pounce on its prey. Then, the number of nationalities under the threat of kidnapping has become out of control as well. Sheikh Abbas Zougheib hinted at bringing Lebanon back to the era of “taking hostages”, be they westerners, Qataris or Saudis. Zougheib, himself, has gone out of control.

At the beginning, the cabinet overlooked the issue of 11 hostages. Then, it fell for the trap by “waiting for them at the airport”. 

Then, the PM has put forth ambiguous statements by declaring that releasing all of the abductees does not fall within the jurisdiction of the committee. It seems like the cabinet has believed the story of the “hospitality” that the Syrian abductees are being subjected to. It seems like the cabinet has believed that showing the hostages on video is the only unethical act while abductions themselves constitute the achievements of the ministry of tourism during the summer season.

Kidnapping rumors have scratched sectarian front line. The safety of the hostages has become part of New Year predictions. Turkey’s latest updates: the Lebanese hostages are safe. Their release is tied with that of the Turkish hostages.
