REPORT: Telecarte, Kalam cards will be back soon

The Ministry of Telecommunications unveiled on Tuesday a mechanism that has been placed to resolve the issue of payphone cards – “Kalam” used from home or from street payphones, and “Telecarte” used directly from street payphones. According to the ministry, these cards will be available in the market, according to legal, administrative and financial rules determined by the Audit Bureau.

In this regard, Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui told LBCI that Kalam and Telecarte cards will be back in the market within 15 days, adding that their absence led to the loss of treasury funds.

“We respected the rule imposed by the Audit Bureau which said that Ogero must be dealt with based on the actual cost,” he said.

The return of these cards was an urgent need, mainly for low-income persons, soldiers and foreigners.
