REPORT: 4G soon in Lebanon

Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui revealed on Tuesday that the pilot phase of the 4G will kick off at the end of February, and includes 200 students and 200 specialists, noting that the service will be commercially launched in Beirut as of the month of April. He stressed that the new service will not have negative effects on the phone calls like the ones triggered by the launch of the 3G service.

During the opening of ALFA's interactive platform for the 4G service at ABC Mall in Achrafieh, where the company is conducting live experiments for the service, Sehnaoui stressed that no one can hinder the development of the telecommunications sector and its infrastructure, noting that he aims at restoring Lebanon's leading role and its position as a regional platform.

For his part, ALFA's Director General Marwan al-Hayek pointed out that Lebanon is among the first countries in the region to try and launch this service, adding that the country is witnessing a worldwide progress in this field.
