Four Lebanese ministers take part in Damascus fair, will the visit become official?

The Lebanese-Syrian relations under the rule of Syrian President Bashar Assad remain a controversial issue among the Lebanese. The issue has even entered the cabinet formation process.

The Lebanese ministers of agriculture, industry, tourism and public works are currently in Syria, despite the debate that arose over Lebanon’s participation in the 60th Damascus International Fair. These ministers consider their participation useful for Lebanon and the sectors they represent.

The visit will not contribute to resolving the dispute over the naturalization with the Syrian regime, but will serve as material for debate.

A political source from the Future Movement said that this visit comes within the ministers’ caretaker duties and political relations under ministerial title, stressing that it does not impose anything on the Prime Minister and his government, but only personal for those who took part in the fair.
