The Red Crescent says the Israeli army stormed Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis

The Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza announced on Friday that the Israeli army had stormed Al-Amal hospital, which operated in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the besieged enclave for weeks.

The Red Crescent said in a statement, "Occupation forces stormed Al-Amal Hospital and began searching it. We are facing difficulty communicating with our teams inside the hospital as they are not responding through wireless communication devices, given that all means of communication there have been cut off for about a month."

The Israeli army did not immediately respond to AFP's request for its comment on its soldiers' entry into the hospital.

A video posted by the organization showed a paramedic transporting an elderly woman on a hospital bed through one of the damaged streets.

According to the Red Crescent on Monday, about 40 displaced persons, 80 patients, and 100 employees were still present after the evacuation.

On Monday, the International Committee of the Red Cross reported that 8,000 people were evacuated from Al-Amal Hospital.

Al-Amal Hospital is one of the most important hospitals in the city, alongside Nasser Hospital, which is also besieged due to the fighting.

No hospitals are fully operational in the enclave, according to the United Nations on Wednesday, while about a third are operating at limited capacity.

The war erupted on October 7 following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,160 people, mostly civilians, according to a toll compiled by AFP based on official Israeli numbers.

Additionally, about 250 hostages were detained in the attack, with Israel saying 132 of them, including some who are believed to have been killed, are still held in Gaza, according to numbers from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

Israel responded with a bombing campaign followed by a broad attack by land in the sector, resulting in the deaths of 27,940 people, primarily women and children, according to the latest toll from the Hamas-affiliated Ministry of Health.
