Spanish aid ship spotted off the coast of Gaza

According to AFP correspondents, the first aid ship that followed the maritime route from Cyprus to the Gaza Strip was seen off the coast of Gaza City on Friday morning.

Video footage and photos taken by AFP photographers showed the ship belonging to the Spanish charitable organization "Open Arms" approaching the besieged shores of the Strip.

According to the non-governmental organization, the ship is carrying 200 tons of food supplies for the Gaza residents threatened by famine amid the war that has entered its sixth month between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

The ship launched a maritime corridor from Cyprus to the Strip, which has been under tight blockade since the outbreak of the war. The United Nations fears an imminent and widespread famine, especially in the northern areas that are difficult to reach, where more than 300,000 people have remained without being displaced to other areas.
