ASEAN unites with global powers: Accelerating growth and resolving disputes

The foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gathered, comprising countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and others, along with representatives from the United States, China, Russia, Japan, India, and Australia.

This alliance aims to accelerate member states' growth, avoid armed conflicts, and establish free trade zones.

However, political issues dominated the meeting in the Indonesian capital, particularly the Taiwan and South China Sea disputes.

In recent times, tensions between Beijing and Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam and the Philippines, have escalated due to China's territorial claims over the majority of the South China Sea.

Moreover, maritime incidents and tensions regarding Taiwan, which enjoys autonomy but is considered by Beijing as part of Chinese territory, have also increased.

Despite their disagreements, Russia and the United States attended this annual meeting. So did they meet?

According to Maria Zakharova, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov does not intend to communicate with American officials during his current visit to Indonesia.

In contrast, a new Chinese-American meeting has occurred.

This meeting brought together senior Chinese diplomats with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on various issues.

Therefore, what is happening in the Indonesian capital is similar to the discussions held by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and other economic and political blocs attempting to coordinate economic, political, and security relations among themselves.

So, will they succeed in changing the global economic system specifically?
