US House Votes on TikTok Separation from ByteDance: What's Next?

A report by Dana Nasr, English adaptation by Nadine Sassine

An overwhelming majority of the US House of Representatives has passed a bill requiring TikTok to separate from its parent company, ByteDance, within a six-month deadline, under the threat of being banned in the United States.

But what if ByteDance refuses to divest TikTok?

More than 170 million Americans use TikTok, and for some, their lives depend on it.

Additionally, over 7 million businesses rely on this app primarily, and they stand to lose substantial amounts if it is banned.

The US Senate has yet to disclose whether the bill will be voted on, but President Biden confirmed that he would sign it if it reached his desk.

With the fate of TikTok users in the United States uncertain, the question remains: Who will buy TikTok, especially considering its current valuation has exceeded $184 billion?
