Russian Federation Council approves withdrawal from Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

The Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, approved on Wednesday the bill to withdraw from the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Tests, in light of the conflict in Ukraine and the crisis with the West.

Council members unanimously approved the law with 156 votes, paving the way for its signing by President Vladimir Putin, which is undoubtedly expected, as he is the one behind this move.
