Chinese Foreign Minister's Visit to Washington Sparks Anticipation for Diplomatic Breakthrough

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi begins a series of meetings in Washington on Thursday that has drawn significant anticipation. The meetings are expected to ease tensions between Washington and Beijing and could lead to the announcement of an upcoming visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United States.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will host his Chinese counterpart in a bilateral meeting on Thursday afternoon, followed by a closed working dinner, according to the US Department of State.
On Friday, Wang Yi will visit the White House to meet with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and possibly President Joe Biden.
