Russian Federation Council sets March 17, 2024, as presidential elections' date

The Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, announced on Thursday the date for the country's presidential elections in March 2024 during a televised meeting. 

The decision, unanimously adopted by council members, specifies "setting the date for the presidential elections on March 17, 2024," while Council Chair Valentina Matviyenko declared that "this decision marks the beginning of the presidential campaign."
