Kyiv claims responsibility for bombing a Russian railway bridge

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced Monday that they destroyed a railway bridge in the Russian Samara region, located more than 750 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, confirming that this action slowed down the transportation of military equipment.

The intelligence agency confirmed that "the railway bridge over the Chapayevka River in the Russian Samara region has become unfit for use," indicating that the bridge was damaged around 6:00 local time (2:00 GMT) due to an "explosion" of part of its structure.

Earlier, the local Russian railway company clarified in a statement that the incident "did not cause any injuries" and resulted from "unauthorized individuals' interference," a phrase used by Russian authorities when discussing such incidents.

The official TASS news agency quoted a source in the rescue service as saying that "an explosive device caused damage to a bridge column for the railway" over the Chapayevka River in the section connecting the town of Zvezda with the city of Chapayevsk.

The regional railway company mentioned, "train traffic is currently suspended in this section," without disclosing further details.
