Berlin: Russian Foreign Ministry did not summon the German ambassador

A spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry denied a Russian media report on Monday that claimed the German ambassador to Russia had been summoned, saying that the diplomat's visit to the Russian Foreign Ministry had been scheduled for some time.

The spokesperson said, "Our ambassador was at the Russian Foreign Ministry this morning for a scheduled appointment that had been arranged some time ago. In this regard, I can simply answer your question about whether this was a summons with 'no.'"

The Russian news agency TASS reported that the meeting came after Russian media outlets published an audio recording of a meeting of senior German military officials discussing the supply of weapons to Ukraine and the possibility of Kyiv launching a strike on a bridge in the Crimean Peninsula.
