The media office of the Lebanese Presidency of the Republic
issued on Thursday a statement whereby it stated that, following the
discussions conducted with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, it has been
agreed to appoint caretaker Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour to ask
Lebanon’s representative at the European Union to inform the EU commission and member
states of the Lebanese government’s request to abstain from blacklisting
Hezbollah.
The Lebanese government’s request says that Hezbollah is a
major component of the Lebanese community, especially that the decision must be
based on objective and compelling evidence.
