Head of the Media and Communications Committee Hassan Fadlallah stressed following the meeting, that the committee agreed over the need that the Telecommunications Ministry follows up on the Israeli violation of the communications network and files a complaint before the International Telecommunication Union in this regard.
Fadlallah also noted that they agreed over the telecommunications infrastructure and its fiber optics is owned by the state, ruling out any exclusivity for any company.
For his part, Telecommunications Minister Jamal al-Jarrah pointed out that extending fiber optics cables is not exclusive and any company that submits a request in this regard, can receive an approval.
In turn, former Minister Wiam Wahhab took to twitter and said that “the Telecommunications Minister is deluding the public opinion by saying that he is referring to a decree in this matter,” stressing that the law 431 passed in 2002 cancelled said decree. “I do not think that the minister is not aware of this fact.”
