REPORT: Cabinet renews mandate of BDL Governor Riyad Salameh
The Cabinet renewed unanimously on Wednesday the mandate of Banque Du Liban Governor Riyad Salame for six years during a cabinet session chaired by President Michel Aoun  at the Baabda palace.

On another note, Aoun asserted that all political sides and the Parliament must draft a new vote law before June 20.

He also called on the Higher Council of Defense to hold a meeting over the security situation in the country and the procedures that must be taken during the holy month of Ramadan.

For his part, Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed the importance of distancing Lebanon from all regional conflicts.

On another note, Hariri noted that a new draft law must be reached “by all means,” stressing that no one wants vacuum or the 1960 vote law.

“There is a real chance to draft a new electoral law,” he added.

Prior to the session, a meeting was held between Aoun and Hariri whereby the latest developments were discussed.
