Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai said on Saturday that Lebanon is a “neutral” country, adding that the National Charter provides for neutrality and openness to all countries except for Israel.
Rai’s comments were made during an exclusive interview with LBCI whereby he stressed that “neutrality to our only way for salvation.”
Rai also noted that dialogue conferences will be held in order to dispel all explanations of the neutrality he called for.
As for his meeting with Prime Minister Hassan Diab, Patriarch Rai dubbed the talks with Diab as good, adding that discussions touched on all the main issues happening in the country.
