Aoun: Last year of my tenure will be a year of real reforms
President Michel Aoun said on Friday that the forensic audit was achieved "20 months after relentless and daily pursuit."

“The forensic audit responds to the right of the Lebanese people to know the causes of the economic, financial and social collapse that afflicted the country and its people,” he added.

Aoun stressed that the forensic audit paves the way for “the desired reforms and responds to the wishes of the International community to help us achieve the economic recovery that we hope the new government will succeed in advancing."

“The last year of my tenure will be a year of real reforms, after it was not possible during the past years to achieve what the Lebanese had aspired to,” he noted.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Youssef Khalil signed the forensic audit contract with the accounting firm Alvarez & Marsal, representing Lebanon’s government after the approval of the Audit Bureau.
