Mikati: New government will deploy all efforts to alleviate power cuts
Prime Minister Najib Mikati thanked on Friday the Iraqi government for supporting and standing beside Lebanon in these difficult times.

Mikati was briefed by Minister of Energy Walid Fayad about the procedures related to the arrival of the first Iraqi fuel ship to the Deir Amar electrical plant which will help in increasing the hours of power supply.

He also noted that the government will deploy all efforts to alleviate the power cuts and improve the power generation.

Mikati added that the government will be working in parallel on a radical solution for the electricity crisis “by diversifying energy sources and giving priority to natural gas and renewable energy.”

This as Iraqi Prime Minister Mustapha al-Kadhimi had confirmed in a phone call with Mikati that "his country stands beside Lebanon and is willing to support the country by all means to help it overcome the difficult ordeal it is going through.”
