UN Special Coordinator discusses Lebanon's situation with Aoun, Salameh

United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon Joanna Wronecka shared on her Twitter account on Friday that she had a fruitful discussion with Banque du Liban Governor Riad Salameh, pointing out that they discussed resuming negotiations with the International Monetary Fund and the importance of setting a strategy to establish economic stability in Lebanon.

"I thank the Executive Director of the IMF Mahmoud Mohieldin for our discussion about the Fund's commitment to help Lebanon. We agreed that implementing substantial reforms is the only way for Lebanon to achieve financial and economic recovery," Wronecka said.

"Today (Friday), I met with President Michel Aoun and we discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, the difficult reform agenda, and the upcoming parliamentary elections. I had a fruitful discussion with Egyptian Ambassador Yasser al-Alawi about the situation in Lebanon and the importance of regional support, especially in the energy sector," she added.
