REPORT: One-week deadline for companies submitting offers for electricity tender

A cabinet session was held Friday at Baabda Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of President Michel Aoun.

The cabinet granted the three companies with incomplete files applying for the power renting tender a one-week deadline to complete their application, calling for forming a ministerial committee to review the offers. The Lebanese Forces ministers refused to take part in said committee and rejected the one-week deadline granted for the companies to complete their files.

The cabinet also approved to bring in three stations to import liquid natural gas into Lebanon.

The ministers also approved boards of directors for the governmental hospitals, postponing the appointment of a board of directors for Tripoli hospital for one week, upon the request of the prime minister.

At the beginning of the session, President Michel Aoun called for kicking off discussions to pass 2018 state budget draft law, adding that the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis have aggravated.

For his part, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said that passing the budget is an achievement for Lebanon and the government, added to several achievements reached over the past few months.

In turn, Agriculture Minister Ghazi Zeaiter denied reports stating that he invited a Syrian minister to visit Lebanon, noting that such reports aim at offending the Syrians.
