Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Sunday with Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri, where he expressed Egypt’s interest in preserving Lebanon’s security and stability and its support in facing the current challenges.
Al-Sisi stressed the need to avoid all forms of sectarian and confessional tension and extremism, rejecting any attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Lebanon. He emphasized that the Lebanese are the only ones concerned in reaching a political formula that suits them and achieves the people’s aspirations that most be the ultimate priority.
For his part, Berri stressed the importance of reaching agreement between the Lebanese political forces, upholding the national interest and achieving political stability.
Berri also praised the Lebanese-Egyptian relations, noting that he looks forward to boosting the economic and investment bilateral ties.
