Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed that Lebanon has been recently facing a threat to the positive track that it has been following, emphasizing that the Lebanese people do not want any “bad relations with Arab countries.”
Following a meeting with his Italian counterpart, Bassil noted that there are no reasons preventing the return of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Lebanon, pointing out that his return is the sole solution for the current dilemma in Lebanon.
“We do not want any foreign interference in our internal affairs and we want PM Hariri to declare his resignation from Lebanon,” he stated, adding that “if Saudi Arabia has any issue with Iran, it has to resolve it with Iran not the Lebanon.”
Bassil denied reports stating that he received a phone call from Hariri, saying that “he has not spoken with directly him since his travel to Saudi Arabia.”
