“Is the government the one intervening in others’ affairs to declare disassociation?”

During a press conference, Gemayel said that “what happened in Lebanon over the past month is saddening, for them to come back and assure their commitment to a statement issued one year ago.”

The MP responded to the letter submitted by Minister of Justice Salim Jreissaty concerning the oil and gas file, pointing that the report contains forgery while the electricity deals were not mentioned. He also considered that “the deletion of these documents is a condemnation.”

Gemayel reaffirms that the deputy’s job is to legislate and to hold accountable those who violate laws.

He considered that the file he received is from all the officials and held them responsible for its content.

He also criticized the way that the authorities are dealing with the journalist and TV host Marcel Ghanem.

“Under the Syrian occupation, Marcel Ghanem was not summoned to court, so why is he being summoned now? Is it because he led an interview, during which things said were not favored by the Authority?”

He confirmed that they are persistent in fighting for the country and the Lebanese people’s interest no matter what.

“We will keep on speaking the truth no matter what and we won’t stop defending Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence,” Gemayel said, stressing that no one will rule Lebanon expect the Lebanese people.
