REPORT: US provides Lebanon with new military aid

US Ambassador to Beirut Elizabeth Richard announced a new program to provide the Lebanon with military assistance, including defensive devices that help the Lebanese Armed Forces to strengthen its defensive capabilities along the border and protect the Lebanese people.

Speaking from the Grand Serail, the ambassador stressed the importance of the disassociation policy, noting that the United States is committed to the Lebanese state and its institutions, including the Lebanese army.

"These systems are valued at more than $120 million," she said, adding that this advanced equipment will help the army build on a steady and strong capability to conduct border security and counter-terrorism operations.
