President Aoun: Lebanon is not responsible for the war in Syria, but its repercussions

President Michel Aoun said that the call for the return of the Syrian refugees to their country stems from the need to put an end to the suffering they are facing on one hand and to stress the importance of reaching a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis to restore stability and security across the Syrian regions, so that the refugees can safely return.

Speaking before the head of the Red Cross mission, who visited Baabda Palace, Aoun reiterated that this position takes into consideration to the current situation in Syria, expressing Lebanon’s hopes that the conditions improve soon.

 

The president noted that Lebanon is not responsible for the war in Syria but its repercussions, stating however, that these repercussions must have been handled mostly by the countries that contributed or facilitated the outbreak of the war, or participated in it without being held accountable for their actions.
