Britain’s Ambassador to Lebanon Hugo Shorter said after his meeting with Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil that the discussions tackled the three upcoming international conferences expected to support Lebanon’s stability and prosperity, stressing that the United Kingdom is one of the biggest supporters of Lebanon, in terms of military support and security partnership.
He added that he is also looking forward to continue this cooperation within the framework of the Security Council resolutions and the decisions of the International Support Group for Lebanon.
The British ambassador stressed that the Rome conference 2 is an opportunity to fix a political framework for cooperation in order to place a long-term strategy for the Lebanese army and the security apparatuses, as well as to encourage other donors to support Lebanon.
He also tackled the upcoming parliamentary elections expected to be held on the 6th of May, explaining that he discussed with Minister Bassil the participation of women in the elections.
