Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai asserted on Sunday that the Lebanese state must give financial aid for the private schools in order to relief the parents of private schools’ students.
Rai’s comments were made during his Sunday’s sermon whereby he said that the state’s failure to do so will lead to the closure of some private schools, with teachers and employees losing their jobs.
As for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Rai called on the Lebanese people to exercise their “constitutional role” and cast their “free” votes.
He concluded by saying that Lebanon is going through an extraordinary phase that requires extraordinary state men.
