Speaker Nabih Berri said that the results of the legislative elections confirm the equation protecting the country, which is “the army, the people and the resistance.”
In an interview with Agence France Presse, Berri said that “all the parties remained on the political scene because in Lebanon no one can be ignored,” reiterating that the results came encouraging for the equation in Lebanon of the army, the people and the resistance.
“The new Parliament has many obligations in order to repair the state and finalize reform matters including corruption,” he stated.
On the law, the speaker said that the new electoral law was seen to have many gaps and contributed for the sectarian factor to have more influence than proportionality,” he explained, pointing out that among the priorities of the new council to improve the electoral law so that it satisfies all the factions of the Lebanese community.
