Speaker Nabih Berri received in Ain al-Tineh Tuesday a delegation from the “Strong Lebanon” bloc, including MPs Ibrahim Kanaan, Elias Bou Saab and Alain Aoun.
The delegation stressed that the position on the election of a new speaker and deputy speaker will be determined later today after the bloc’s meeting.
Kanaan said that the meeting with Berri was “good” and the new phase requires cooperation among all factions, noting that “the elections are now behind and new challenges are ahead.”
“Positivity will be the trait of the next stage and our hand will be extended for everyone,” he pointed out, adding that Berri also stressed the need for cooperation.
For his part, Bou Saab said that he did not nominate himself for the deputy speaker position, stating that he can be more efficient in another position; reiterating that the official stance will be announced later in the afternoon.
